VIEUX GARCON / THE BACHELOR’S JAM
1 lb of ripe seasonal fruit (berries, pears, peaches - whatever!)
750ml of Iceberg vodka
1 cup sugar
Prepare fruit by peeling, slicing and removing stones/seeds if necessary.
Combine fruit vodka and sugar in a large jar with a tight-fitting lid.
Mix, cover and chill, storing in the refrigerator for a minimum of 3 months.
** “Vieux Garcon” /Bachelor’s jam is a french recipe - basically an easy way to infuse and preserve seasonal fruit for later use. The fruit-infused syrup can be then used in cocktails and the fruit itself can be used as a topping on waffles/pancakes, ice cream, toast or just eaten straight out of the jar.
